Things That Are Really Not A Problem #2: Taxi Sign App
A company in the Netherlands called iSignz has developed an iPhone app called “Taxi Hold’em.” Not a new poker game, but rather an app that flashes the word “taxi” on your phone.
How do you employ this revolutionary technology to your advantage? You hold up your iPhone and wave it at approaching taxis and, according to the developers, “that cab stops just for you.”
I know what you’re thinking. Aren’t I already holding up my arm and waving at taxis, whether I have an iPhone in my hand or not? And haven’t taxis have been stopping for decades with that decidedly low-tech approach? Yes. And yes.
And I know New York. There, taxi drivers will think you’re just another whack job trying to shoot delusional laser beams at Saturn with your cell phone and motor on by, maybe splashing you with a puddle if they can.
Still, it’s free, so the developers suggest that when you are “tired of whistling, just let your iPhone do for it you.” I don’t know what that means, either, but best of luck.
